It shall
be the goals of Kent Youth, Inc. to provide a residential
facility and outreach services for teen-aged boys and their
families from the communities of Maryland in order that they
may learn to make better life decisions.
And further, to deliver these
services by developing unique programs for each youth to
facilitate growth toward responsible, self-sufficient
adulthood and reintegration into the community. As a primary
care agency for the Department of Juvenile Services, Kent
Youth, Inc. fully recognizes and adopts into its goals and
objectives the mission of the Department of Juvenile
Services - To provide a variety of programs and services
that reflect the most creative, effective, and efficient us
of resources at the least restrictive level of care
consistent with public safety.
For those youth who require more intensive and restrictive
services, Kent Youth, Inc. has been offering residential
treatment through a 10 bed group home located in
Chestertown, Maryland since 1971.
Serving 14 to 17 year old males referred by the Department
of Juvenile Services, the home is an alternative between
supervised and institutional placement and serves as a cost
effective resource in preventing out-of-state-placement. It
lives up to the label "community based facility" by
utilizing services available in the community such as public
schools, individual and family counseling, drug/alcohol
education and treatment, mental health services, and medical
facilities and programs.
Services provided in the group home include individual,
group, and family counseling, educational support,
pro-social and life skills, anger management, crisis
intervention, Drug/alcohol awareness, and recreational
activities. Residents also participate in community
volunteer activities for local towns and organizations.
