Outreach Program
Started in 1981, The Kent
Youth Outreach Services work towards supporting and
encouraging youth and families to develop the skills and
resources necessary to overcome those factors related to the
development of dysfunctional patterns of behavior.
These services reduce the
incidence of delinquency and the need for more restrictive
and costly placements among those youth served.
We provide youth and
family services that include, but not necessarily limited
to, individual and family counseling, tutoring, substance
abuse education, cultural, civic and recreational
activities, skills enhancement workshops for parents, crisis
intervention services, and case management.
These services are
provided to referred males and females ages 12-18 and their
families from the Upper Eastern Shore of Maryland (Caroline,
Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne’s and Talbot Counties). There are
typically between 20 and 25 youth served at any given time
by the two Outreach counselors.
Each child receives a
weekly visit from a counselor, meeting in the home or at the
child’s school during the academic year.
Counselors will also
assist in the transition and aftercare needs of graduates of
the Kent Youth residential program upon their return to home
communities.
