"Beading For a Cause" - Board member Lynn Benjamin organized several days of activities this summer for our residents to increase their awareness of breast cancer. A male breast cancer survivor spoke with the boys about his experiences with the disease. Another speaker, local RN Kathy Simmons, who has recently been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, talked about her experiences and offered information on good health practices to the boys. The boys then spent two days making beaded jewelry and assorted items which Kathy will sell in order to help raise money for her Team Simmons to participate in the Susan G. Koman Washington, D.C. 3-Day Walk for the Cure.
