Jill Coleman
was named Executive Director of Kent Youth, Inc. in
October of 2009. She had served as Acting ED since March of
that year. Prior to assuming her new roll, Jill worked in
the capacity of Case manager and then as the Residential
Program Coordinator.
Jill has a
BA in Psychology from Wesley College and an MEE in
Elementary Education from Wilmington College and, prior to
coming to Kent Youth, worked for 10 years with the elderly
population at Chester River Manor
Born and
raised in Sudlersville, MD, Jill is well known throughout
the community for her active involvement in sports. She
played volleyball, basketball and softball at Wesley
College. Jill was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Wesley
College and she also received All American Athlete awards in
basketball and softball. Currently, Jill coaches basketball
at Kent County High School and also umpires for UBAU.
In
September 2009, Jill’s slow-pitch softball team won the
World Championship in South Carolina.
Jill
brings extensive experience and knowledge to the job and
understands both the administrative and program components
of Kent Youth. Additionally, she is a certified residential
program administrator with the state of Maryland. Jill’s
active involvement in the community and her exceptional
understanding of young people are just a few of the special
gifts she brings to Kent Youth.
With 20
years’ experience already behind her in cost accounting,
some of which were with AT&T, Kent Youth business manager
Jane Welsh keeps the program’s finances in order, and
makes them understandable to the board with complete reports
at every meeting. Jane came aboard in 2006, a welcome
addition in the office.
Jane and
her husband moved to Kent County from northern Virginia in
2004, but because they’ve sailed the Bay for more than 20
years, Chestertown wasn’t new to them.
A graduate
of Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pa., Jane has degrees in
psychology and accounting.
In
addition to her years with AT&T, Jane has been comptroller
for a large excavating company and the accountant for the
Old Dominion Boat Club in Alexandria, Va.
Her newest
hobby is learning to play bridge, "hoping it will keep me
mentally sharp in years to come," she says. Jane is also
actively involved with animal rescue groups.
Glenda
Kelly
is the Administrative Assistant for Kent Youth. A
life long resident of Kent County, Glenda was born and
raised in Rock Hall, MD. Glenda has nearly 30 years
experience in office work and bookkeeping. When not at
work, Glenda enjoys cooking, gardening, and spending time
with her family and her two cats.
Latresha Cruz
is the Staff Development Coordinator for Kent Youth.
Latresha began her career with Kent Youth in 2001, after
graduating from Delaware State University with a Bachelor of
Social Work. She was an Outreach Case Manager until 2005
and then worked as the Case Manager for 8 girls at Kent
Youth Larrabee house until it closed in May, 2009. In her
spare time, Latresha enjoys reading, traveling, and spending
time with family and friends.
Our
Senior Outreach Case Manager, Tracy Donaghue, has been
with Kent Youth since 2005. Tracy graduated from Washington
College with a degree in Sociology. Prior to her work at
Kent Youth, Tracy worked as a Psychiatric Rehabilitation
Specialist in Easton, Maryland. In her free time, Tracy
enjoys going to the gym and traveling.
Lauren Krasko
joined the Kent Youth team in January of 2010 as an
Outreach Caseworker. A graduate of the University of
Maryland, Lauren holds a bachelors degree in Family Studies
and a Certificate in Psychology. Lauren works with at risk
youth between the ages of 12 and 18 in Kent, Cecil, and
Caroline counties. In her free time, she enjoys playing
soccer and spending time with her family.
Maintenance Supervisor, John Stewart,
has been with Kent Youth since 1972 when he came on staff as
a residential counselor/transportation officer.
John moved
into the position of Maintenance Supervisor where
he has
been invaluable in assuring the excellent upkeep and
improvements to our building and grounds.
To
recognize his many years of service, John was honored with
the dedication of the Biddle House weight room in his name
during the 2009 annual meeting.
